Local Cape Coral Artist, MiMi Stirn, Wins National/International Fine Arts America Abstract Art Competition
Cape Coral, FL – MiMi Stirn, known to friends as Amanda Stirn, entered into a Fine Arts America abstract art competition on September 12th. The competition was open to voters around the world, and included the works of national and international artists. On Tuesday, September 17, 2014 MiMi received the news she won 1st place among over 2,200 participating artists. Her Hoolandia© Hoopunked – Steampunk – Phoenix Owl Rising was the winner. MiMi works from her studio in her Cape Coral. She was accepted into the 2014 Cape Coral Festival of the Arts and held her premier showing of her copyrighted works “Hoolandia©” in January 2014. Since going public with her works in 2014 in the social media realm, she is known among her growing new 3,800 Facebook© fans as “The Owl Chick”. Artwork includes a range of abstract, contemporary, and whimsical paintings, focusing on both the Florida mangroves as well as inspiration from the burrowing owls found in Cape Coral.
MiMi moved to Cape Coral, Florida from Spokane, Washington in 2010 and has lived around the world, including Germany, Guam, and many states across the US. She has been painting a mixture of different styles utilizing multiple techniques since 1989 but finds the greatest inspiration from her love of nature and the beauty of Southwest Florida.
